DeSales University offers educational programs that prepare students to obtain licensure or certification that is required for employment in certain professions. Admission into and graduation from such educational programs does not guarantee professional licensure or certification. States determine whether to regulate a profession and determine the requirements that must be met to obtain a license or certification necessary for a profession. In addition to educational requirements, states may require additional items including but not limited to: background checks, fingerprinting, examinations, continuing education and letters of reference. State requirements for licensure or certification are subject to change based on changes in law or regulations. Students are strongly encouraged to contact the appropriate licensing or certification body in a state to seek information and guidance regarding the requirements for licensure or certification. DeSales University's online SLP program prepares students for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP). DeSales University has reviewed the educational program requirements for licensure as a professional SLP. For each state, DeSales has either: determined the online M.S. SLP curriculum meets the educational requirements for licensure or certification or determined the online M.S. SLP curriculum does not meet the educational requirements for licensure or certification. These determinations are provided in the table below.

The licensure disclosures pertain to professional speech-language pathologist licensure in each state. Please be aware that some states require a separate credential to practice in the school system which may have additional requirements. If a state Department of Education requires a separate credential to practice in the school system, you must obtain that credential to practice in schools. It is the student's responsibility to determine what is required to obtain the credential to work in the school system. It is the student’s responsibility to remain up to date on all state licensure requirements.

Graduates in Pennsylvania meet the Department of Education requirements if two specific teacher required electives have been taken. Teacher/school requirements for other states vary.
